Course Design Philosophy
USABO is widely regarded as the most challenging international biology competition under IBO, exceeding even the rigor of AP Biology in both depth and breadth. Success requires not only mastery of advanced biological concepts but also the ability to apply knowledge flexibly and analytically.
This course is built upon the authoritative textbook Campbell Biology, with curriculum design aligned closely to the USABO syllabus. While teaching college-level biology content, the program emphasizes the development of biological reasoning skills and high-level problem-solving strategies essential for elite competitions.
Beyond USABO, this course also provides strong preparation for:
-
AP Biology
-
British Biology Olympiad (BBO)
-
Toronto Biology Competition
-
SAT Subject Test in Biology
Exam Timeline Advantage
The USABO semifinal typically takes place in mid-April, while the AP Biology exam occurs in mid-May. With minimal time gap between the two exams, students can leverage peak content retention to achieve strong results in both.
Target Students
USABO is open to high school students of all grade levels.
This course is particularly suitable for:
-
Grade 10 and Grade 11 students
-
Academically advanced Grade 9 students
